Yorglass Boosts Occupational Health and Safety Awareness by 60% with Human-Centered, Experience-Based Trainings

Yorglass Safeguards Sustainable Success through Employee Safety

Placing occupational health and safety (OHS) at the core of its corporate culture, Yorglass goes beyond industry standards with innovative initiatives such as empathy-based trainings, theater-integrated safety programs, and robot-supported ergonomic solutions. By automating heavy-load operations, the company successfully reduced risk levels from 11 to 2, while achieving full satisfaction in 86% of its pilot-tested OHS practices. Among its most impactful innovations are the “Experience-Based Approach” trainings, which allow employees to personally experience—through special simulations—the challenges of losing sensory abilities. “With this training, our employees have gained a much deeper understanding of the importance of following safety rules. At Yorglass, with our human-centered approach, we are setting global standards in workplace safety,” said Yorglass Human Resources Director Ayşe Doğruöz.

Safety as a Core Corporate Responsibility

Protecting employees’ physical and mental well-being is not only a legal obligation but also a fundamental aspect of corporate social responsibility. In the industrial and manufacturing sectors in particular, the implementation of correct OHS practices is critical to preventing workplace accidents and ensuring productivity. As a trusted and global supplier in the glass industry, Yorglass is pioneering forward-looking approaches that elevate both industry and business practices. Commenting during the Occupational Health and Safety Week (May 1–4), Doğruöz emphasized that Yorglass has made employee well-being a top priority and is advancing well beyond international standards in this field.

“A Safe Workplace Strengthens Corporate Culture”

Highlighting that a safe work environment not only prevents accidents but also increases employee engagement and strengthens corporate culture, Doğruöz noted:

“At Yorglass, we believe that occupational health and safety can only be achieved through practices that truly touch people’s lives—not just through rules. With this mindset, we design projects that extend beyond standard practices, directly impact the field, and invest in people. While OHS may be seen as a legal obligation for employers, in reality, it is a strategic investment that enhances workforce productivity and ensures business continuity in the long run. Technological systems that can proactively identify hazards, coupled with regular awareness-building and training, mark a new era in workplace safety. That is why we regard OHS as an intrinsic part of our corporate DNA. Sustainable success is simply impossible without safeguarding the safety of our field and office employees alike. With our human-centered projects, we move beyond traditional audit mechanisms and create solutions that directly improve our employees’ everyday work lives.”

44 Safety Practices, 38 with Full Employee Satisfaction

Detailing Yorglass’s innovative efforts in OHS, Doğruöz said:

    • “Through our Experience-Based Approach, employees were able to personally experience the difficulties they might face if they lost their senses, fostering true empathy and awareness. With participatory and theater-based trainings, we brought safety rules to life, enhancing the retention of knowledge. These initiatives increased our Nonconformity Reporting Cards (UBK) by 60%. We also rewarded employees who reported near-miss incidents, embedding a proactive prevention culture. Our first aid trainings reached 305 employees, with surveys showing an average 86% correct response rate—and over 94% on Heimlich maneuver questions, proving the effectiveness of our programs.
    • Ergonomic improvements included upgrading the wheels of glass carts and deploying robots for heavy-lifting operations, reducing the risk scale from 11 to 2.
    • In 2025, we introduced anti-fatigue mats to support circulation and reduce fatigue for employees working long hours on their feet.
    • Our internal communication platform Ming has been key in driving awareness and increasing participation in surveys. Through Ming, we track “Near-Miss Reports” digitally and in real-time, involving field employees and digitizing operational processes. This enables immediate monitoring, feedback, and the creation of effective resolution mechanisms.
    • By integrating gamification into Ming, we have tested 44 different OHS initiatives and achieved full employee satisfaction in 38 of them. We will continue to build on this momentum and expand our portfolio of innovative, human-centered safety practices.”
